Eldeco Pipe and Fabrication Division Celebrates One Year Anniversary
This month, Eldeco Pipe and Fabrication (EPF) celebrated its one-year anniversary as a division of Eldeco, Inc. Last year, Eldeco, Inc. decided to acquire Industrial Piping, Inc. (IPI) operations in Richburg, South Carolina. “We wanted to diversify our business model by entering a different market that was still close to the construction industry,” explains Allen McKinney, President of Eldeco, Inc.
Under the leadership of General Manager Scott Rice, Quality Manager Ron Miller and Strategic Business Development Consultant Mike Roberts, EPF has rapidly regained a reputation among the best in fabrication. EPF’s 80,000 square foot facility has effectively served the needs of clients from a wide range of industries, including industrial gas, power generation, chemical, renewable energy, waste water, pulp and paper, food and beverage and manufacturing. EPF’s services include modules, skid assemblies, pipe fabrication, pressure vessels, structural steel, painting, electrical, insulation and other custom equipment and fabrication. The team operates under a certified quality program based on ASME Code – Section VIII.
Commitment to the Industry
Prior to the acquisition of the IPI operations, employment at the facility had fallen from 100 to less than 50 people and there were serious concerns about the viability of the operation. Immediately after the acquisition, all of the employees were offered permanent, full-time positions with EPF and over the course of the past year, EPF employment has increased by more than fifty percent. In describing the acquisition, Rice states, “We needed to keep the quality people but improve the management. We were confident that Eldeco’s leadership and commitment to the industry would place EPF in a position to succeed.” Equipped with eight over head bridge cranes capable of 50 tons and 26’ under-hook, a heat treatment oven, ASME U, PP, S and R code stamps as well as an indoor blast and paint facility, EPF is capable of tackling projects of all scales.
In the past year, Eldeco and EPF have re-established the supplier network, improved customer responses and enhanced employee training. One of numerous success stories from the past year is a pipe fabrication project completed with Sumter, South Carolina-based Sifco Mechanical Inc. Jefferson Howell, P.E., Vice President of Sifco Mechanical, Inc. reports, “The piping fit perfectly and we will continue to seek future opportunities to work with EPF. We thank the team for their quick turnaround and utmost professionalism. We couldn’t ask for a better experience.”
Eldeco recently launched a new website for the Pipe and Fabrication Division, which can be accessed here: http://eldecopipeandfab.com/
