Eldeco Earns STEP Award for Fifth Year in a Row!
For the fifth year in a row, Eldeco Inc. is the proud recipient of a STEP Award, presented at the annual Construction Safety and HR Conference hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas.

This year, Eldeco earned two STEP awards: a platinum award for the Charleston office and a gold award for the Greenville office. Our Safety Coordinator Craig Stephanus was present to receive the awards on behalf of the company.
In order to receive a Gold STEP award, Eldeco had a total recordable incident rate (TRIR) at or below the national average. The Platinum award holds even higher standards, requiring a TRIR at 25% below the national average, an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.8 and zero fatalities in the past 3 years.
Developed in 1989, the Safety Training Evaluation Program (STEP) awards are intended to help companies develop effective safety and loss prevention programs. Written by and for contractors, the detailed questionnaire used in evaluation is the gold standard in safety benchmarking. STEP participants are considered 150% safer than the national average recorded by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The first step to improving a safety program is evaluating it. Eldeco would like to congratulate the other ABC members that participated this year. “People” are the industry’s greatest strength. Let’s all strive to send our employees home safely every night!
