Eldeco Gives Back with Habitat for Humanity

The Team

Eldeco had the opportunity to be a sponsor and a part of building a home in Charlotte, NC with Carolina AGC with its Young Leaders in Construction group. 25 volunteers spent a full day giving back to the Charlotte Community.

The Project

Our task was to hang drywall side by side with the future home owner.  Room by room, the ceiling was hung, and two bedrooms in this 1500 square foot home.

The History

As a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that builds with people in need regardless of race or religion, we welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.habitat

Habitat for Humanity has more than 1,400 local affiliates in the United States and more than 70 national organizations around the world. Together, they have helped more than 1 million families — representing 5 million people — improve their living conditions since our founding in 1976.

Because of volunteers, these homes are able to be financed to the families, interest free at cost to build the home. The families personally put in 400 hours of labor whether on the home, or in a Habitat store. Financial classes are also administered to the applicants to continue to help them prepare for home ownership.

The Goal

This was a great opportunity to be involved in our own back yard, help build some valuable relationships with fellow contractors. We hope this is the first of many projects to come in the future with the Eldeco Family.
