
Birmingham Branch Wins ABC Obelisk Award

The Team
We are very proud of our Birmingham branch and its award winning job! With a tight schedule, Eldeco impressed many and helped add to the great reputation we have had in the Southeast for over forty years. The Project
Ardaugh Metal packaging selected an existing 650, 000 square foot building in Roanoke, VA to create their new metal Packaging Plant, called Kobalt. The overall project schedule required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Work scope required 35KV overhead lines, Viper Reclosure switch, 35KV 6 switch line up, primary terminations, 5- 2500 KVA padmount transformers, 5- 4000 amp switchboards, and all downstream power distribution and lighting. All process electrical was performed on design build basis for the majority of the project. At peak capacity this facility can generation 4.5 million food cans per day for clients such as ConAgra, Del Monte, Kraft Foods, Nestlé and Proctor and Gamble.


The Award
This project won in the electrical $2-10 Million bracket for Excellence in Construction given by the Associated Builders and Contractors.
Appreciation
Blaine Construction was the General Contractor and was impressed by our creative ideas and approach to cost, safety, schedule and quality.
We also received a letter from the Owner, reiterating their appreciation for time and project management. Ardagh Metal was aware of the skill it took both on site and in office to keep this aggressive time-line, and happy we could keep it.
