Horsehead Zinc was an open site consisting of 100kv Delivery down to 15KV distribution to 13 unit substations across a 25 acre site. In addition to the distribution, we executed the process wiring and commissioning for 350+ motors and 3500 E&I control points. It was essential for the team to pay close attention to detail, as there was a vast amount of motors and control points. BIM Modeling was crucial to the real time scheduling and installation of all trades. The overall site size (25 acres) as well as the fact that 75% of the process is outside exposed to the elements required a great deal of staging and logistics to perform multiple tasks concurrently. Our team peaked at 135 craftsmen who weathered the winter months of 2014 in order to complete this project on time and under budget.
